Welcome, you have come to the right place!
In my blog, I share a few personal stories of how I have found inspiration or messages from Mother Nature to help solve some of my problems. I like to refer to these messages as Secret Pearls, as they remain hidden to most of the world but are freely available to those who take the time to look for them.
I hold a Bachelor of Teaching Degree and spend many hours at work and at conferences teaching others about the value of helping children connect with nature.
Over the years, I have come to realise that in order to teach our children the importance of nature, it has to start with us, the parent. If we can’t find our connection with nature, we won’t be able to help our children find theirs.
I have been blessed with a childhood where my parents encouraged me to explore and value all that nature has to offer. In times where I was scared, sad or in trouble, I would seek comfort in my “safe place”, a big tree in the front of our property. It was in these times that I found solace but also courage to climb down that tree and face life’s problems again. I am sure that many of you have similar stories of your own safe spaces to tell.

As an adult I face different types of problems but I still seek nature’s guidance when I need that extra bit of courage or strength. Over the years, I have found that nature has a treasure chest full of Secret Pearls to share with us. These Secret Pearls contain wisdom to help us face life’s problems. Unfortunately, our lifestyles have become extremely busy. We hardly take the time to stop and listen to nature – the one true source that sustains us in body, mind and spirit.
Our society has made a big shift away from nature to more synthetic spaces, free from high maintenance lawns, messy trees, dangerous wild life or pesky insects.
For many years we have believed that these ‘dead spaces’ provide safer environments for us and our children but research is beginning to prove otherwise.

Research now shows that for the benefit of our overall development and emotional well-being, a strong shift is needed to make that re-connection with nature.
Nature buffers the impact of life's stresses and helps us deal with adversity. The greater the amount of nature exposure, the greater the benefits.
Nature instills a sense of peace and being at one with the world. Leafy green spaces have a restorative effect on the human brain that allows one to return refreshed to focus on tasks.
Behaviour ratings of people with ADD and ADHD show that symptoms were substantially relieved in outdoor settings and subjects showed an increased ability to concentrate.
Other research evidence suggests that nature contributes to better developmental outcomes for people with disabilities, and that more time spent in nature leads to more positive feelings about each other as well as better social interactions.
(Moore 1986 & 1996, Bixler et al. 2002; Kaplan & Kaplan, 1989; Taylor, Kuo & Sullivan, 2001; Taylor et al. 2001; Wells & Evans 2003; Crain 2001).

It comes as no surprise then, when we turn back the pages in history to see that many of our world’s great Spiritual Teachers like Jesus and Buddha retreated to nature to regain their strength and seek inspiration after spending many hours teaching and healing others.
So why share these Secret Pearls at no cost to you?
I have a vision of living in a world that is safe: a world where people are honest and where they show love, patience, kindness and respect to each other.
A world where our children can once again be children; where they can freely explore nature and experience the benefit of tapping into nature’s great resource of spiritual guidance and motivation.
I realise that I cannot achieve this on my own.
I need your help.
Together, we can begin to make this vision a reality.
